Who goes to therapy?
These are six examples, but there are many more.  Each person is different and each has his or her own set of reasons for coming.
  1. People seek therapy when they are feeling anxious or overwhelmed.  They need therapy to help control this state.
  2. People go to therapy when they are dissatisfied with their life and feel they deserve more, but don’t know how to achieve it.
  3. People unhappy in marriage go to therapy to clarify expectation or to leave the marriage.
  4. Parents bring children to therapy if the child is overly depressed, withdrawn, anxious, angry, or drug abusing.
  5. Frequently family doctors will notice extremes in anxiety or depression and send their patient to a psychologist.
  6. People with drug or alcohol problems come to psychologists for help.
